| Rock-Tractm Transfer Case | Tru-Loktm Front and Rear Locking Differentials | |
| Rock-Trac,
Rubicon's exclusive hight-performance transfer case, has a 4:1 low-range
ratio versus Wranglers' standard 2.72:1
The 4:1 ratio simply translates into higher torque output. Greater power at lower speeds. Slower, more controlled speed when off-roading, meaning you can "crawl" over large obstacles with greater control - and with little need to use the brakes or clutch. |
The
differentials are what's know as "air Lockers," which are
activated by an air compressor that is controlled by an electronic
switch inside the vehicle.
The rear differential also provides a limited-slip feature when not locked. This function limits the speed difference between the two wheels, thus improving traction on slippery surfaces. The front axle also incorporates a stronger axle U-joint that provides added strength for extreme off-road conditions. Lockers manufactured by Tochigi Fugi Sangyo |

Common Sense and Safety should always be observed when working on your vehicle or doing modifications. Jackstands, wheel blocks, disconnecting the battery are a few of the basic safety precautions that should be used and may not be mentioned in the write ups on this site. You are responsible for your own installation. My write up may be different from the kits currently out there, so alwasy double check the manufacturers installation instructions when installing anything. I try to keep the site up to date with changes that have occured as I discover them, but may not have the latest unless someone lets me know. If you feel that an install is above your capabilities after reading my write ups, I recommend getting together with a club and getting some help. Only a few times have I needed to employe some actual help from a shop to get something done. Usually welding or A/C work.
