OEM to LED Fog Light Bulbs

Swapping the OEM Fog Light Bulbs for LED's

Part #: PSX24W(2504)-80W

I finally had an OEM fog light bulb burn out in the Jeep. Not bad considering these light are on every day when I head into work and when I'm out at night. I honestly expected them to burn out a few years ago, but they didn't. I checked with the local auto parts store, but when I saw the price for just one OEM replacement bulb I quickly decided that for the same price as replacing two bulbs just like the OEM, I could buy 4 sets of LED bulbs from Amazon. These bulbs had a lot of good reviews on them, so I took the chance and two days later they were at my doorstep. This is a canbus version bulb so you shouldn't get any warning lights popping up on the dash after installation. These are a 6000k vice the 3000k? OEM bulb for color, so they are much whiter.

The Bulbs:
The ALLA lighting LED bulb uses the OEM connector so you don't need any adapters for the wiring harness. The quality of the bulb is really good, no sloppy construction, yellowed or cracked lenses, the LED and the projector bulb in the front were excellent.

Installation:
1. Press the tab on the back side of the wiring harness connector and pull the connector out of the back of the bulb. Mine did not have any locking tab preventing me from pushing in on the tab, so check to see if you have one. I do have what looks like a red piece on the harness, but it's only there to hold in the wires.
2. Press the two tabs in on either side of the bulb base and pull straight out. You may need to wiggle it gently to get the o-ring to release from the fog light housing. You can see one tab up by the tip of the adjustment screw. They just hook around the housing and hold it in.
3. Install the new LED bulbs the same way. Make sure they are seated well, the new o-ring on the bulbs is a tight fit into the housing, but you want them water tight.
4. Reinstall the wiring harness.
5. When I was checking the pictures I had taken I really noticed how bad the lense had gotten on the fog lights so a good scrubbing got the film off of the lenses.
Quick comparison of the two bulbs. The OEM is yellowish and the new LED is a very bright white.
The new LED bulbs are definetely brighter at night. They are definately not on the level of some of the aftermarket LED fog lights like the Baja Designs, Ridgid, or KC light, but they are pretty good for $17.

Common Sense and Safety should always be observed when working on your vehicle or doing modifications. Jackstands, wheel blocks, disconnecting the battery are a few of the basic safety precautions that should be used and may not be mentioned in the write ups on this site. You are responsible for your own installation, these write ups are a helpful guideline and should not be taken as an official installation instruction. My write up may be different from the kits currently out there, so alwasy double check the manufacturers installation instructions when installing anything. I try to keep the site up to date with changes that have occured as I discover them, but may not have the latest unless someone lets me know. If you feel that an install is above your capabilities after reading my write ups, I recommend getting together with a club and getting some help. Only a few times have I needed to employe some actual help from a shop to get something done. Usually welding or A/C work. While I have spent many years working on mechanical systems, I am not an expert, nor do I pretend to be one. I hope these write ups have been useful to you.
